Gunther Farm Project and Incubator Farm Lease Opportunity

The Tolland County Agricultural Center, Inc. (an agricultural education focused nonprofit) has up to 13 acres of farmland available for use.  Preferred tenant would be a beginning farmer (USDA definition of less than 10 years) with experience and a strong business plan. The farm is currently in conventional hay production, but good soils and gentile slopes make it suitable for a wide variety of crops and livestock. Has easy access to markets with road frontage and close proximity to an I 84 intersection. The property has water, electric, and use of several outbuildings. Room available for the development of high tunnels and greenhouse.  In addition, the farm offers a unique opportunity  (but is not required) for a possible partnership with the adjacent Tolland County Agricultural Center and UConn Extension Center for research, education, and the development of additional farm infrastructure.  The farm is protected with a farm friendly conservation easement.

The Tolland County Agricultural Center is excited to be hosting an incubator farm, Giroux Farm, on our Gunther property.

Giroux Farm is a small farm operating since Spring 2020, previously as a vegetable farm, and now primarily a flower farm, selling to both wholesale and retail markets.  Marc-Andre Giroux is both a vegetable and flower farmer with 5 years of farming experience under his belt.  He studied Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Connecticut, after which he interned at a vegetable and livestock farm in Sonoma, California.  He returned home with the experience and motivation to begin his own farm.  Marc began farming independently in 2018, primarily growing vegetables and continued on and then switching to primarily cut flower production.  He has a deep passion for nature and agriculture and devours farmer educational resources whenever possible.

Giroux Farm has Full Season and Partial Season Flower CSA’s Available, please head to their website for more information at:
